Chrissie Slade creates natural aromatherapy skincare products for guinea pigs. And she is utterly fabulous and very passionate about her niche.
Chrissie is the only person in the world (that we know of at least) to do this so she really has carved out a powerful niche for herself! She sells grooming products for guinea pigs with skincare problems all over the world and is an expert on her subject. We first met Chrissie when she attended our branding workshop back in March, and since then have been on a really exciting journey with Chrissie to create her a brand identity that really does her justice and helps her communicate powerfully with her ideal customers.
The Current Brand Identity
I had a real problem with Chrissie’s existing brand identity. I didn’t think it communicated any of Chrissie’s professionalism and expertise for her subject, the cartoonish illustrations felt very down market and the colours clashed terribly.
I also felt quite strongly that there was probably a better strapline that we could come up with than the alusion to another famous company’s strapline. It felt a lot like it was weakening the strength and integrity of the brand.
What we wanted to do with the new identity was to get across the aromatherapy element of Chrissie’s product, whilst at the same time retaining a friendly and approachable feel. And so here are the concepts…
Concept One
We loved the natural, herbal, medicinal feel of this, but Chrissie felt it was a bit too human and not “animal” enough.
Concept Two
Love the cute illustration! Do you see how it’s been used in the final design?
Concept Three
I love how the colours come together on this one – the blue just feels perfectly aromatherapy, nurturing and calming.
I really love this logo. It feels so right for Chrissie and a million miles away from what she had. And by exchanging a cuter guinea pig with the bow I think the identity just works perfectly!
Here’s the final logo
What do you think? And isn’t Chrissie fab for having the passion, focus and confidence to really carve herself out a niche in an area she is such an expert in? Can’t wait to move on to phase two of the project
