Exhibitions: How to do it
Last week I had a bit of a rant about a Chelsea exhibitor. But there were some great stands too. So this week I thought I’d share with you some of the successes! Hartley Botanic sell glasshouses. Now by my standards that’s not something that’s particularly sexy. And yet they managed to create a fantastic lifestyle image by properly styling their greenhouses and conservatories. They’d teamed up with Country Living magazine and had created some very alluring images – they convinced me!
What impressed me the most, apart from the beautiful styling, was the fact that when I asked for a brochure (because the styling alone had convinced me that I had to know more) the friendly guy in one of the greenhouses took my details on his very full clipboard and promised me that they’d post one on to me. In all honesty, I didn’t expect to get anything for a couple of weeks. So I was VERY impressed when I received a lovely glossy brochure two days later. I suppose they must have faxed the sheets up to their head office that night who’d acted on them the following day. But what organisation! What planning. I suspect Hartley might sell a few more greenhouses than the playhouse people because of their proactivity. What do you think?
