Help! I’ve half a box of leaflets left and I don’t know what to do with them!
Did you over order on the leaflets? Are they now sat in a box doing, well, not very much? In this post I tackled why many people end up with leaflets they just don’t use. But what happens if you are that person that has a box of print sat in their office doing nothing? What do you do with the left over print?
The worst thing you can do is to do nothing. Those leaflets aren’t going to win you any business sat in your office. So unless they’re completely inaccurate or the design is so awful that it’s damaging to your business (in which case they’ll need recycling); you need to get them out there.
But how do you do that without breaking the bank? Read on for my low cost ways of generating business from something you’d given up on.
Here are some ways you can get those unwanted leaflets generating some business for you:
• Do a door drop. One of my clients did this with some leaflets that she’d gone off. There was nothing wrong with them other than the fact that she’d moved on and didn’t really like them any more. Before I printed her some new ones she spent one Sunday afternoon delivering leaflets to her target market (she’s an interior designer) and picked up her biggest client to date. And to think she was about to throw them away!
• Use them as inserts in a publication. Do you sell to consumers? For quite a small fee you could insert your leaflets into the local newspaper or community publication. Business to business? Try publications like the Chambers of Commerce magazine (the Surrey Chambers also run a Monthly Mailing service where for a pretty small fee they’ll deliver to all their members).
• Mail them to your existing customers. When was the last time you got in touch with your existing customers? Send out a letter along with your leaflets and maybe a special offer too. You’ll be surprised at the business a well written letter will generate.
• Mail them to people on your database that have never bought from you. How often do you get in touch with these people? In many cases, these people are just forgotten about, and yet they could be a prime target market for you. As above, send out your leaflet with a letter and an enticing offer.
I’m sure there are plenty more ways that you can creatively get rid of your leaflets without consigning them to the recycling pile but I hope that’s got you thinking. But what about you, what has worked for your business?
