How to get your marketing into gear ready for September
The summer is often a quiet time for many businesses. Staff and clients away on holiday, the children are off school, many networking events close down and it’s quite nice to enjoy a slower pace of life. But come September you need to be ready to step your marketing up a gear and capitalise on the restarting of commerce. Here are my top tips to get your marketing ready for September.
1. Focus on one particular product/ service to sell – it makes life much easier for you to market, measure and sell. It doesn’t mean that you can’t sell the other services, but you’ll find it easier to sell a lot of one thing than a few of many. It gives your sales team (even if that’s only you) focus and your customers can immediately understand what you want them to buy.
2. If you can, create a compelling offer that people just can’t refuse (rather like our Wow Marketing Packs!). that doesn’t mean you have to offer big discounts – it might be something that people get free, it might just be the art of packaging together a service so that your customers have a clear idea of what something is going to cost.
3. Think creatively about how you’re going to market this offer to existing customers: telephone calls, mailshots, emailshots and your website perhaps?
4. How can you market the offer to your existing enquiries?
5. How can you use the offer to generate new business? Perhaps inserts into a local magazine or your Chamber of Commerce? Could you leave leaflets with a local shop or library? Is it worth buying a mailing list?
6. Be persistent – get in touch with people three or four times over the course of a couple of months to remind them about the offer. This could be via different means – telephone, email and mail perhaps.
7. Mention it to everyone you speak to on a daily basis (connected with your business that is – your family may get a little bored of your fantastic offer by day three!).
8. Measure, review and refine to improve how you do things for next time
