How to use your wardrobe personality to reinforce your business brand

Just come across a fantastic set of books on personal branding by image consultant Angela Marshall that I’d like to share with you. In Being Truly You (she has written one for men and one for women) Angela takes a very similar approach to personal branding as I do to business branding.
Angela believes that everyone has a wardrobe personality, which, once you can understand and unlock it, can help you feel at your very best and communicate as effectively as possible to those around you. The book focuses on helping you identify which wardrobe personality you are and how to use that knowledge to present your best self.
Just as with branding, Angela doesn’t take a ‘one size fits all’ approach to personal branding. So she’s not advocating that you shoehorn yourself into a suit and shiny shoes if that’s not something you feel comfortable with. Instead, it’s about understanding yourself and what image you’d like to project, and then finding an appropriate way of doing that.
My sisters and I had a lot of fun with the interactive quiz. And I think from a business point of view, there’s probably a lot that can be applied to not only how you come across, but also in gaining an insight into how other people come across as well.
The book is full of good advice about the pros and cons of each wardrobe personality (I know now that I need to be better at cleaning my shoes!). It also gave me a good insight into why I ‘click’ better with certain types of people than others.
