In the studio this week… A new Website Design for Imago Images

We love designing websites almost as much as we love creating brand identities. Brand identities are what we’re best known for – the chance to really flex our creative muscles, apply our expertise and come up with something truly innovative – we never get tired of that. But there’s something special about taking that brand identity through to the execution on a website that gives us a special thrill.

Just recently I’ve had my heart broken by a couple of projects who have chosen to place their websites elsewhere. Seeing the finished result was utterly deflating. To see a brand identity that you’ve poured your heart and soul into be hacked about by a less sensitive hand is incredibly demotivating. And I think it just goes to show that beautiful brand elements don’t make for a stunning website on their own, you need to work with a designer who has a strong creative streak and incredible commercial background to really be able to pull something off that reaches it’s full potential. But I digress.

I’m so pleased with this website because I think it just goes to show what’s possible when you take a creative vision and execute it right through to the end.

Imago Images is a business startup led by Aki – an ex Army doctor who is about to embark on a major career change as a professional photographer. Aki has a really warm and approachable personality and is incredibly inspired by his new career. We wanted to create a brand identity that was approachable, creative and had an air of sensitivity about it. And I think the mood board really communicates that strongly.

The Vision Board

Strong imagery, charcoal grey and small splashes of colour keep this brand identity classy, understated and beautiful. We loved the washi tape so much that we decided to take it right through to the final concept!

The Initial Concept

Pretty close to the original mood board concept there wasn’t much to tweak in this design. To keep things cost effective for Aki we designed his logo at the same time as the website and you’ll notice a tweak in the second proof – much more manly!

The Tweaked Homepage

Aki really loved the first proof so with a couple of nips and tucks to the strapline, the textures and the logo we’re good to go. Obviously there are other pages to design next but we’re all delighted with where the project is heading and really excited about Aki launching his new business with a really gorgeous brand identity and website.

  1. Congratulations! You did such a great job – love the header and the little details.

  2. Can’t understand why a client would want to go elsewhere, especially in the middle of proceedings. As always here is an excellent example of a website, and a great inspiration to us all.

Fiona, I really am blown away by the talented, professional yet friendly approach from all your staff. So very glad I came to Flourish. Ian tells me I was the first phone call after your new site went live!

To anyone doubting, just look at the results…
