Remember the Old Vicarage mood board and website? Well I’m delighted to be able to share the first few concepts for the homepage with you. There is still some refining and tweaking to do before moving on to some of the other pages, but I hope you like the overall look and feel of what you see. It’s certainly been a hit with Kate and her family!
Version One
A complete update of the logo and a very refreshed looking website. It certainly feels much cleaner, more contemporary and upmarket doesn’t it? We’ve thought about what’s important, what needs to be at the top of the page and what can be moved nearer the bottom to give space and prominence to the things that matter the most.
The banners will rotate and we’ll need to design a few more (including a gorgeous vista of the Lakes as well as some beautifully styled shots of the house) but this banner just gives a taste of what to expect.
Version Two
This version includes a tweaked header with the five stars in a prominent position and a more legible font for the descriptor. We’ve also inserted Kate’s beautiful illustrations (more on that below) and introduced some calls to action. Chloe will be working on a revised version next week which will refine these even further.
Kate’s Beautiful Illustrations
Following our first draft, Kate was inspired to create some illustrations for the site and we’re so glad that she did. Aren’t they just gorgeous? Really beautifully illustrated, really evocative and perfectly tone in with the rest of the design.
The next stage is to finalise the homepage design, create some more beautiful banners and then design a couple more pages – most likely the Rooms and Tarrif pages but we shall see. Really looking forward to seeing the next steps! What do you think? Is it what you were expecting based on the mood board?

Wow, what a stunning design. I think it’s version two with the more legible font. I love the squirrel and the sketch of the sheep – fab.
Thanks Leda! Aren’t the sketches amazing? All courtesy of the very clever Kate – daughter of the owners.
I love this design – great job!
Thank you Will. I know Chloe is really looking forward to getting started on the other pages!
That design is really fresh! Especially the second iteration. It’s always nice to see what other people are doing in wonderful world of web design.
Thank you Frank, lovely to have you on the blog
