Introducing… The Old Vicarage
The Old Vicarage at Lorton is a family run guesthouse nestled deep in the Lake District. Run by Peter and Jane Smith the guesthouse has been recently refurbished and encouraged by their daughter Kate they have commissioned Flourish to give their website the once over.
The Current Website Design
There are many elements about this homepage which just don’t work for me, the main one being that it simply doesn’t look like the warm, homely and contemporary retreat that it is. The colours, the fonts and the layout just don’t lend themselves to communicating the quality of this business as they stand. There are elements given prominence like the SBS win which detract from what you really want to see which is images of the properties. The guesthouse has been thoughtfully refurbished and I just don’t think this comes across in the site right now.

And the plans for the future
Jane and Peter’s daughter, Kate, was a Branding Masterclass student and really understands where she wants to take the branding. Kate has created a mood board that creates a much lighter and brighter look that is even more homely and engaging than before. We were so blown away by Kate’s mood board that we really didn’t want to change a thing.
We loved Kate’s choice of lifestyle photography, beautiful fonts and colour. You may also notice some line drawings on the page? They were created by Kate who has promised she can create more to order! It’s really wonderful to work on a project like this where with a few key tweaks the whole look and feel of a business can change. It’s just about representing the business to the outside world as the business owners see it.
