Pizza Express’ Pizza for £1. A great example of a viral campaign

I just received this topical email in my inbox from Pizza Express. Not only have they managed to create a great offer that’s making waves virally, they’ve also tied it in to the election without being cheesy or contrived.

The email has “gone viral” (ie, people are forwarding it to their friends of their own accord, it’s not coming direct from Pizza Express) because it’s a great offer. Who wouldn’t want a pizza for £1? And it’s caught peoples attention in the first place because it’s topical, has some great artwork and is also related to the product (see that “election pizza”?). Personally I think it’s a cracking piece of marketing. And the fact that you have to join their mailing list to gain your voucher only makes it more commercially successful.

Hurray for Pizza Express!
